Description
The Mepps Aglia spinner is the original French spinner. It is the World's #1 Lure. More
trophy fish have been caught on the Mepps Aglia than any other lure. The Mepps Aglia is
extremely popular with fishermen world-wide because it will catch just about any
freshwater fish and many species of saltwater fish.
Lure size is important. The rule of thumb is use smaller lures to catch smaller fish and
larger lures to catch larger fish. Keep in mind plain spinners present a smaller profile
than dressed spinners, so they will appear smaller to the fish. This makes them perfect
for panfish and small stream trout. Fishing with dressed spinners can produce larger
fish, but, when stream trout fishing, you will probably catch more fish using plain
spinners.
Plain Treble and Single Hook
Mepps plain treble or single hook Aglias in size #00 or #0 are perfect for panfish
(bluegills or sunfish) and small stream trout. They are very light, however, and require
a nimble rod, equipped with a light action reel spooled with light line; nothing heavier
than six-pound-test. Two-pound-test to four-pound-test is better. Aglias in size #1 and #2
are perfect for larger stream trout and large bluegills, sunfish and crappies. Size #2
Aglias are also excellent for smallmouth bass and walleye. These sizes are ideal for
teaching youngsters the basics of spinner fishing, as they are heavy enough to cast well
with light tackle, yet they are small enough to catch a wide variety of fish.
Size #4 and # 5 Aglias are ideal for large rainbow trout and steelhead, as well as coho
(silver) and chinook (king) salmon.
Mepps single hook Aglias can be used virtually anywhere single hook lures are required. They are perfect for Alaska.
Dressed Treble
Mepps dressed Aglia spinners come in sizes #00 through #5. A #00 is a Mepps Ultra Lite and it weighs only 1/18 oz.
These little trout and panfish lures are dressed with natural hackle. They are also available as wooly worms. The
#0 Aglia Spin Fly is also a Wooly Worm. It too is perfect for both panfish and trout and weighs 1/12 oz. Larger
dressed Aglias weigh up to 1/2 oz. (#5). The hooks on dressed Aglias in sizes #1-#5 are dressed with natural squirrel
tail or bucktail.
Dressed Aglias (Ultra Lites and Wooly Worms) in size #00 or #0 are perfect for panfish (bluegills or sunfish)
and small stream trout. They are very light, however, and require a nimble rod, equipped with a light action

| The #0 Aglia plain treble is one of the best lures money can buy with the rainbow trout blade. I have caught bluegill, sunfish and bass one day on the water with my brand new copper #0 Aglia. I casted out to catch some of the big bluegill at Mantua Reservoir. I casted 3 or 4 times and all of a sudden my drag started going and I felt a thousand puonds on the end of my line. I got it closer to shore and I saw it was a gigantic rainbow 17.5 inches long 2.5 to 3 pounds....great catch for a brand new lure. Thanks Mepps, keep up the good work! |

There are some days when we will fish with only one lure, and that is, the #5 Aglia dressed white with a silver blade. On every trip to Maine, we stop at Cabela's and buy as many as they have because we know they will be beaten to a pulp.
They are attacked by pickerel, smallmouth bass, largemouth bass and northern pike. It is a phenomenal lure and will oftentimes save a trip from being blah. Thanks MEPPS! |

| I've used every lure you can think, but never a Mepps. I've caught plenty of fish up to about 6 inches. Then I bought a Mepps. In 2 hours, my friend and I caught 9 bass all about a foot long except one that was 16 inches and 2.5 pounds. That is the biggest bass I've ever caught. Wow...while fishing for pike I noticed a large carp over 10 pounds in the shallows. On a lark, I swam my #5 Mepps Aglia in front of her nose only to watch the huge carp inhale my spinner! Was an incredible battle with powerful runs to mid-river but I did land that fish. 12 pound carp...so much fun.
Two days later...I caught a 16 inch channel cat on the same #5 and some pike up to 24 inches. What else can you say?! |

| I got my my first Mepps lure last year because I ran out of lures and needed some new ones. It was one of the best decisions I've made getting one. I got the Aglia Plain Treble Hot Firetiger #1. I caught easily over 50 largemouth bass with around 20-25 of them all over a foot long last season. The largest of the season was 18 inches. So far this fishing season I have caught over 30 and around 20 have been over a foot long with the longest around 17 inches. I've caught 2 channel catfish both around 13 or 14 inches, one this season, one last season. I've e caught 2 perch this year both around 11 inches long and I've caught 2 small bluegill this season, none last season. I only have that one lure and it has never disappointed me. I want to get a few more that are a little bigger for some bigger fish. This has to be the best lure in the world. I can't wait to try all the different types. |

| In 2011, this will be my 5th trip back to the Nushagak River in Alaska. The silver Salmon fishing is fantastic. One can easily catch 20 to 30 Silvers every day. | Yep, these lures catch about almost anything and everything. Size of what a Mepps can catch that is alive, ranges from minnows to children and everything in between (in my father's case that is). When you put on a Mepps Aglia it feels like you're cheating in the fishing world, it's just that damn good. Anyways the colors my family have used and been successful on are: orange painted with either the black or grey tail, the Brown Trout with a grey tail, the Rainbow Trout paint with white or grey tail, silver blade and white tail, hot pink paint and black tail with a red feather down the middle. Really every single one of the colors works, if the color you have isn't working, keep switching to a different color until you find one that works. To cut down your searching time, ask other people at the dock or on the lake fishing what color they have been catching fish on, or go by how dark or light it is outside. Dark colors on a dark day and bright colors on a bright day. Oh, and we use size #'s 3,4,5,and Musky Killers. |

| Fishing season has not even started here in Northeastern Illinois and I have already caught more fish than all of last season thanks to Mepps! OK . . . I hate to give away my secret, but by using the #1 & 2 white Aglia dressed spinner, I caught 15 largemouth bass in a couple of hours. Granted they were not very large, but a lot of fun for the first bass of spring. Then while trout fishing, I was tired of watching trout swim past my dough and nibble bait, so I picked up my other rod and began to toss the #2 white Aglia dressed spinner and BAM!!! I had a nice rainbow trout on. My wife did the same with a #1 and began to catch trout as well. We caught 5 very nice trout, with my wife catching the largest! |

The Leven River in the North of Tasmania is probably one of the best trout streams here,and over the last two days fishing this great little river and using Mepps Aglia #00 spinners I managed to have 52 hook ups. A total catch of 37 beautifully conditioned Brown Trout were landed and released. With the river being stained from recent rains the Aglia worked to perfection.The biggest Brown went 1 lb. with the overall average weight being 3/4 lb. The gold colour worked great for the one mile of river that I fished, and once again the Mepps lures showed why they are the World's No 1 Lure.

In 1966 I was 13 years old. One day my cousin and I went fishing with some lures we had gotten from our grandfather's tacklebox .
One of those lures was a #2 gold blade mepps agila, the lure that I used. My cousin used something else. We went to an old farm pond on the land we lived on that belonged to a cotton farmer our parents used to work for. As my cousin and I were walking around the pond he spotted a 2 pound largemouth bass that came to the bank and hid in some weeds right at the edge of the bank. My cousin called me and showed where the bass had gone down. I was using an old 33 zebco with ten pound test line on it. I cast that #2 mepps out about 20 feet into pond and brought it right across that bass head and BA-BOOM he came up out of the water with the lure hung in the side of its mouth. I was so excited I did'nt even wind the reel, I just ran backwards and dragged it up on the bank. My very first bass!
Since then the mepps family of lures have been my favorite, and one day I will pass them on to my grandsons

| A buddy and I went bass fishing every day for about a week and a half and only landed one 12 in largemouth bass. After using everything in the tackle box, I saw the old rusty Mepps. Since I used everything else, I figured I would give it a try. That night we caught 4 bass, and made a trip to Gander Mountain to buy some new shiny Mepps. The next morning we caught no less than TEN 14.5 inch FIVE 13 inch and TWO 17 inch along with about FOUR pike ranging from 22 in. to 24 inches. Wow, I think we found out what we were doing wrong... We weren't using Mepps. Now, we only use Mepps. |

Let's just say....if I could only take "one" lure with me anywhere in the world to fish, it would be by far a #5 Mepps spinner. These lures catch everything when other lures produce nothing. It's true because I've proved it over and over. Pike simply cannot resist them. Best lure ever!!!!

| I use the Mepps Aglia Fluorescent's in UK canals, I believe that the Aglia Fluorescent is only available in Europe, and the US version is the Aglia Glo. Since I started using the Mepps Aglia Fluorescent in the canals of the North West of England, I simply haven't stopped catching fish. The main two predators in UK canals are Perch and Pike, and I have caught both species with great regularity using the Aglia Fluorescent. In fact, since I started using the Aglia Fluorescent's several weeks ago now, there has not been one single fishing session where I have failed to catch a fish. The high visibility of the Aglia Fluorescent is absolutely deadly in the cloudy waters of UK canals. |

I fished for over a week on the Bow River just a short distance downstream from the 22X road bridge and only had one or two small fish, until I bought my Aglia plain treble size 3 on the weekend.
Within 2 hours this morning (Monday), I had caught 4 fish, 3 of which were small Rainbow Trout, but the fourth was a very healthy and very fat Brown Trout weighing in excess of 2 pounds.

I use Aglia #3 for Trout Rainbow in Karaoz Stream of Antalya.I use gold/red dot or silver/red dot. Number 3 is better for throwing farther and catching bigger Rainbow. Also,sometimes very small rainbow can be caught with a #3 and release again.
If you're fishing in large stream, then use bigger number of Aglia for throwing farther.
If the stream is fastly flowing,then you can send the fishing line with your finger slowly after throwing with your fishing rod. When fishing the Aglia near a tree shadow, rock, or near brush, then pull and push your rod up and down a few times and later turn your reel slowly.
When you're on or near a stream,throw Aglia against the flow (for example right or left side),wait a few seconds and turn your reel slowly. If there is a rainbow this area,it will bite your Aglia in very short time. |

Aglia #3
The Mepps Aglia is the classic Mepps spinner. Living up to its name, the Aglia blade has a classic steady beat as it is retrieved. In fact, a musician can count its quick beat... 1-2-3-4, 1-2-3-4. It's both lively and bright. Because the French blade on the Aglia spins at a steady 60° angle from the spinner's body, its sound is also steady and very easy to hear.
