Shanen Woodson – Lakes, Rivers, Ponds, Colorado

Lure: Aglia & Dressed Aglia

Fish Caught: Bass, Largemouth - Bass, Striped - Bluegill (Bream, Brim) - Catfish, Channel - Crappie (Black) - Crappie (White) - Trout, Brook - Trout, Rainbow

Mr. Sheldon,
First of all I would like to applaud your grandfather for making the best lure out there. My father taught me at a very young age that a Mepps Aglia #3 gold-gray was the best lure on the planet. I caught my first fish on a lure with this model. As far as I knew, why use anything else. I can honestly say there has been thousands of fish caught on this lure by my family. I've caught largemouth bass, striper, sandbass, crappie, brim, and even catfish on this model. It never really matters if we are fishing a creek, pond, lake, or river. I've even caught trout, red drum, durado, ling and other salt water species off the Texas coast on the Aglia #3 gold-gray. I've caught browns and rainbows in Colorado on the Aglia #1 silver-gray. Aglias' catch everything! When you say it is the world's #1 lure, you aren't kiddin'!

All my bass fishing buddies laugh at me when I tie on the lucky Aglia #3 gold-gray. But they ain't laughing at the end of the day. They all have your lure in their tacklebox now! I could tell you many Mepps stories and probably write a book about it, and maybe one day I will. I'll dig around the archives and try and send you some pics of some great Mepps experiences. Once again, thank you and your family for producing the world's #1 lure.

Mepps Customer Always,

Shannen R. Woodson

Jason Hetzel – Clinton Township, Michigan

Lure: Aglia & Dressed Aglia

Fish Caught: Pike, Northern

I knew that pink colored lures are great for spring time pike. Sure enough, I tied on a #4 Hot Pink plain treble Aglia, and in came the northerns. These lures are absolutely amazing at catching fish. They will catch fish regardless of what weather/water conditions may exist.

Thanks Mepps for such amazing products!!!

Jim Mumley – Colchester Pond Colchester, Vermont

Lure: Syclops

Fish Caught: Pike, Northern

It was my first cast of the day; I tied on a Syclops # 3 lure in the Hot Firetiger pattern. I barely had time to close the bail on my reel when a 25" 7lb. northern hit . I caught about 6-7 pike that day but that first one was the biggest of the day.

Dennis Newquist – Lost Land Lake & Teal Lake , Wisconsin

Lure: Giant Killer Sassy Shad

Fish Caught: Musky

I love fishing for muskies with bucktails. I had been reading about a trend in musky fishing - soft body lures. When I went to my favorite fishing store and saw the Mepps Giant Killer Sassy Shad, I knew that this lure had to work. The first day I used it, I hooked a 38" musky on Lost Land Lake in a spot that I have never even had a bite!
My friends on our trip decided to purchase a couple Giant Killer Sassy Shads. The next day out, my friend, Rick, was using the gold blade version. He got a knot in his reel and as he was fixing it with his lure dangling about three feet above the water, a very nice northern jumped out of the water to get his lure but missed it!
On the last day of our trip, I had to go back and fish the spot where I caught the musky, still using my Giant Killer Sassy Shad. I had another nice musky on but I lost this one.
This year when we return, I already know what lure will be on when we hit the same spot as the year before - the Mepps Giant Killer Sassy Shad!

Mark Bell – Western New York, New York

Lure: Aglia Streamer

Fish Caught: Bass, Largemouth - Bluegill (Bream, Brim) - Perch, Yellow - Sunfish (shellcracker)

I am writing to again back up the claim that so many fishermen make. Mepps make the worlds best lures!
Since the time I started fishing when I was 8, had no clue what I was doing and bought my first Mepps spinner mostly because it looked pretty in the package and then caught fish the first time I used it, up to this point almost 20 years later, Mepps has proved to me that they have a lure which will catch any fish I am chasing and you don't have to be a expert to use them.
I enjoy taking my younger brother and sister(ages 9 and 12) fishing and like to brag about their catches. One time when I brought them to a small pond which I knew would provide alot of action fishing for bluegills, I tied on a small Black Fury to my sister's line and on her first cast she landed a large bluegill and continued catching fish the whole time we were there. I gave my brother a #3 Aglia after he kept telling me that he wanted to catch "a bigger fish than that" and I figured there might be some bass around, on his first or second cast he hooked and brought in a 4 1/2 pound largemouth. After that I started casting a #3 Aglia Streamer and soon caught another bass, this one weighing about 6 pounds, both of these fish were very large if compared to the size of the pond. It just goes to show that anyone can catch anything on a Mepps.

Wayne Cosby – Fish Hook Park Pond, Burbank, Washington

Lure: Little Wolf

Fish Caught: Trout, Rainbow

I experimented with a variety of spoons in a well stocked trout pond. I tried a 1/8 oz Little Wolf, single hook, with the barb pinched down for catch and release, and it worked exceptionally well. What I especially liked is that the lure continues to wobble well at a very slow retrieve speed, and this was a distinct advantage. Trout were striking it on virtually every cast, and I caught and released quite a few very quickly.
