I've caught various salmon and trout species on the Mepps Flying C. As a Pacific Northwest angler with some of the best salmon and trout fisheries in the world, it is one of my go spots for spinner fishing and trolling. I've gotten a chance to try every color, so here's what works. All the glow blade series works great for coho and chinook while trolling. Anything pink, specifically the all pink blade, works best for coho river fishing, running it deep. Where chartreuse and chartreuse glow work great for chinook and cutthroat trout. I've found that the blade spins better and stays deeper if you bend the blade to the side. It adds to the presentation and adds more chatter within the river. I've found the only size that works best for me is the heavy body 7/8 oz, and I typically replace hooks as soon as I get them. The Mepps Flying C is a great lure. I fish trouts in Italy in the small creeks of the mountain Alps. I use an ultralight setup. Some years ago I decided to use only Mepps spinners, mainly small Aglias. The reason is the quality and reliability of the Mepps lures (produced in France here). With my surprise, after many tests, I discover that the most effective color for trouts is the white GLO that I use extensively everywhere. I don't know why this color is so attractive, may be it reminds some white butterflies, quite common in our mountains, that are usual feed for trouts. Actually this color stop working in the cold season, where silver colors take the lead. I was not able to convince my friends to try the white GLO and they prefer to stay to their usual colors. This is probably part of the human nature.
