White Bass Testimonials

Charles And Jeanine Keevert – Cheney Lake Kansas, Kansas

Lure: Black Fury

Fish Caught: Bass, Largemouth - Bass, Striped - Bass, White - Walleye

We bought our first Black Fury in 1960. After that we have bought lots of Mepps exclusive.
All we have in our tackle box are Mepps!

Kevin Hurley – Muskegon, Michigan

Lure: Little Wolf

Fish Caught: Bass, Largemouth - Bass, Smallmouth - Bass, White - Bluegill (Bream, Brim) - Bowfin - Catfish, Channel - Crappie (White) - Perch, Yellow - Trout, Brown

I spent 160 dollars to get the free hoodie that was offered for orders 150 dollars. First, the hoodie and hat are excellent quality. Absolutely love them. I grew up with a father that taught me Mepps are the best. I moved to an area that wasn't great for fishing without a boat and got big into catfishing on the bottom with live bait. Well, I moved back to Michigan and realized I needed to get back into lure fishing. I thought 150 dollars might be a little extreme, so I decided to catalog the fish I caught to see if the money was worth it. Here's where I'm at a month in fishing exclusively with my Mepps order:
52 large mouth bass
7 small mouth bass
27 bluegill
12 perch
4 white bass
5 channel cats (all over 8lbs and largest at 18lbs)
2 brown trout
5 bowfin
4 crappie

All that and I've only used 5 of the lures I got so far. The only lure I used and didn't land a fish was a Thunderbug that a small musky broke off. The Little Wolf spoon has been fantastic for me. Never used spoons much but tried it out and caught fish on the first 3 casts. Don't sleep on the grab bags. Wouldn't have known how great the Little Wolf is if I didn't get it in the grab bag.

All my fishing friends keep trying to push me on other lures but I think the results prove what my father always said "Mepps is the best". Looking forward to losing enough of my new lures so I can justify another 150 dollar order.

Melissa Creekmur – Pond, Kentucky

Lure: Aglia & Dressed Aglia

Fish Caught: Bass, Largemouth - Bass, Rock - Bass, Smallmouth - Bass, Striped - Bass, White - Bluegill (Bream, Brim) - Carp - Catfish, Blue - Crappie (White) - Perch, Yellow

I am a 45 year old woman I have been fishing since I was 3 years old. First started with my grandfather. He had always used nothing but Mepps spinners. So I followed in his foot steps. I try new lures on occasion but have found its a waste of time for me. I will only use Mepps to catch the fish!!! They are the best!!

Richard – Lake Erie, Rockwood, Michigan

Lure: Double Blade Aglia

Fish Caught: Bass, Largemouth - Bass, Smallmouth - Bass, White - Catfish, Channel - Pike, Northern

I'm just honestly thankful these products exist. Just had one of my best days ever trying out new Double Bladed Mepps spoon/spinner, absolutely killed the largemouth. Caught some pike, small mouth and a totally unintentional channel catfish. Just turned my buddy onto these too, he wasn't having any bites and after I reeled 3 in he walked over and went through my bag for one and started landing them. Made for some awesome photos and an awesome day. Can't say enough good things about Mepps products without sounding like I'm getting paid to write this. When the fishing gets tough, I'll always carry a Mepps spoon/spinner and slap it on and can almost guarantee something. Mepps Aglia 5 treble hook single/double blades will get just about anythings attention and get you on some fish. Great lures.

Kevin Osina – Bethany Lakes, Allen, Texas

Fish Caught: Bass, Largemouth - Bass, White - Bluegill (Bream, Brim)

This lure works like magic. You throw it, they bite!!

Bob – Brunswick Hills, Ohio

Lure: Syclops

Fish Caught: Bass, Largemouth - Bass, Rock - Bass, Smallmouth - Bass, White

The silver with red is money. I fish this at the dock in the morning and afternoon before and after walleye fishing on Lake Erie. I can remember only one time I didn't catch a bass of some type. The guy I fish with on Lake Erie was so impressed with it that he had to have one. He also has a lot of success with it.

I lost one after a giant sheepshead slammed it at the dock. broke my line and took off with the lure. Had to buy another one and upgraded the line so it didn't happen again.

Kip Lohmiller – Lake Poygan, Wisconsin

Lure: Aglia & Dressed Aglia

Fish Caught: Bass, Largemouth - Bass, Smallmouth - Bass, White - Bowfin - Catfish, Blue - Crappie (Black) - Pike, Northern - Walleye - Catfish, Flathead

As a kid I grew up using Mepps, in WI and MN. The 21 years I was in the Army, I didn't fish at all. After retirement my wife told me, I needed a hobby, so I took up fishing again, after nearly 25 years. And went and bought a bunch of Mepps and other lures. I can't lie, I am a spinner loving fisherman. Over the last 3 years I have used Mepps almost exclusively. And mainly the Aglia dressed #5 and #3. I have caught tons of fish with them, from Large Mouth Bass, Northern Pike, Small Mouth, Walleye, Bowfin, Crappie, Catfish, and White Bass. I have been to Mepps in Antigo three times with friends to take the tour and get resupplied on my selection. Each time Bev and the crew have been awesome, and a big thanks to them.
Last year Mepps came out with the Aglia Bait series, and I ordered several different ones, but the Frog was my new go to spinner. I caught probably 6 northern over 32" and tons of bass, small and large mouth, I caught walleye, white bass and more. There are two really memorable days this last season that I would like to share. 1st, Troy and I went out in the morning on Lake Poygan and he was using the Dirty Shad and I was using the Frog, both from the Aglia Bait Series. Up until late afternoon I caught all Large Mouth and Troy caught all Northern Pike. Later that day things change up and we caught 8 White Bass in about 15 minutes and then I started to catch northern on my Frog and Troy, bass on his Dirty Shad. We caught 30 fish that day, it was crazy...... 2nd, My brother in law came up to visit and he has been fishing his whole life so its always a competition. The last day Troy, Jim and myself went out for a day of fishing. Jim "my brother in law" threw everything in his tackle box to include some crazy looking blue gill lure. Troy and I only used Mepps Bait Series. Troy and I caught a total of 20 fish, 10 apiece and Jim caught 4. A great way to end a week of fishing.......
On December 30, 2019 Troy and I went up to Mepps for a tour and to have some lures custom made. The tour was great and Troy and I put in our order. Troy got his lures the next day, WOW. I got mine on the 1st, WOW. The whole team up in Antigo was awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thanks a lot Mepps, you build the best lures and have the best customer service!!!!!!!! Troy and I are going to do some bass tourneys this year with only Mepps just for fun...... Have a great year!!!!!

Josh White – Beaver Dam River, Lowell, Wisconsin

Lure: Syclops

Fish Caught: Bass, White - Pike, Northern - Walleye

The Gold #00 Syclops was a killer bait. I found it on shore one day and never knew Mepps made spoons and since the white bass run was on, I was psyched to try it out. And, man did it catch the whites bad. I outfished all of my friends who were tossing small Daredevils and Twister. I caught some walleye and pike while I was at it, too, but as soon as I went to try a different bait, I didn't catch a single fish after. I guess they just love the erratic action of the Syclops.

Bob Hayett – Heritage Lake, Olathe, Kansas

Lure: Black Fury

Fish Caught: Bass, Largemouth - Bass, Smallmouth - Bass, White - Bluegill (Bream, Brim) - Catfish, Channel - Crappie (Black) - Crappie (White) - Trout, Brook - Trout, Brown - Trout, Rainbow - Walleye

I have found that Black Furies work amazingly well in two situations: In and around rocky shorelines and reeling them fast over spawning fish. I caught nearly a ten pound largemouth last year right next to a rocky shore.

Don Nelson – Coffee County Lake, Kansas

Lure: Bass Pocket Pac - #3 XD Dressed

Fish Caught: Bass, Largemouth - Bass, Rock - Bass, Smallmouth - Bass, Striped - Bass, White - Crappie (Black) - Crappie (White) - Perch, White - Walleye

I have been trolling spinners and crankbaits for 30 years. I have tried every spinner on the market. For 2 years I fished the pro bass circuit in the 70s. I fish at least 2 days a week. When you are tolling there is absoleutly nothing that will catch as many fish as the Mepps XD spinners. You need to use a ball bearing swivel and 10lb braid line or 8lb monofilament line. Saturday my son and I went fishing and caught one 5lb Walleye, 3 crappie over 12" and 19 white bass on these Mepps XD spinners. We also caught 12 hybrids that were an average of 2 lbs. And, we threw back 6 crappies over 11" long. The Mepps XD is the most reliable bait you can use while casting or trolling.

Dustin Long – Great Miami, Kiser Lake, Ohio

Lure: Aglia & Dressed Aglia

Fish Caught: Bass, Largemouth - Bass, Smallmouth - Bass, Striped - Bass, White - Crappie (Black) - Crappie (White) - Perch, Yellow - Pike, Northern - Sunfish (shellcracker) - Walleye - Catfish, Flathead

From 0 to number 5 these baits always work. Best baits in the world. My go-to bait every time I'm out. These lures will catch just about everything. Caught my 38-inch northern pike out of the Great Miami River. My mounted 29-inch northern. Catch smallmouth all day long with these. Double blades are also great. Silver blades with white bucktail. Also, the ones without a bucktail with the orange plastic piece works great. Great product, good prices. Wish I could fish for a living.

Wyatt Norman – Longview , Texas

Lure: Aglia & Dressed Aglia

Fish Caught: Bass, White

I have been catching lots of white bass and hybrids on Lake Palestine and Cedar Creek Lake. Dennis Christian taught me the technique of using the Mepps #4 Aglia. This man catches 50 to 100 every time he goes fishing and teaches others how to use the mepps Aglia. He is your best salesman for your product. Here is his Youtube video of him catching lots of fish !

William Jackson – Guadalupe River, Kerrville, Cibilo Creek, Cibilo, Texas

Lure: Comet Mino

Fish Caught: Bass, Largemouth - Bass, Rock - Bass, Smallmouth - Bass, White - Bluegill (Bream, Brim) - Catfish, Blue - Catfish, Channel - Crappie (Black) - Trout, Brook - Trout, Rainbow

I am 53 and have been fishing Mepps spinners since I was 4 years old from as far north as Fairbanks, Alaska, to as far south as Oakville, Texas. When it seems that nothing is biting, the Mepps Comet Minos sizes 00, 1, 2, or 3, always save the day as do the Aglia with squirrel tails. I saw my father catch Salmon and Grayling on Mepps while I have caught Largemouth Bass, Smallmouth bass, Spotted Bass, Guadalupe Bass, Rainbow Trout, Brook Trout, Green Sunfish, Longear Sunfish, Redear Sunfish, Redspotted Sunfish, Warmmouth, Rock Bass, White and Black Crappie, Blue Catfish, Channel Catfish, and once a silver shad. I have caught panfish barely larger than the lure to Bass over 4 pounds. All the Mepps products are winners. They are fantastic.

Joshua Murrow – Northeast, Kansas

Lure: Aglia & Dressed Aglia

Fish Caught: Bass, Largemouth - Bass, Smallmouth - Bass, White - Bluegill (Bream, Brim) - Crappie (Black) - Crappie (White) - Sunfish (shellcracker) - Trout, Rainbow - Walleye

I can't say enouph about the Aglia. I have cought many diffrent kinds of fish with this spinner. The Aglia will catch anything. This spring I have already caught hundreds of bass and haven't used hardly anything else.
I have already caught three award-winning trout for the Mepps Awards. Monster trout that weighs up to and including the three pound class. Last weekend I caught the biggest crappie of my life. A one pound nine ounce white crappie out of a farm pond. I will have a pick up soon in the picture section on this site. I have used Mepps for over twenty years (about 1989) and love and respect anything Mepps puts out there. This spinner can run at almost any depth as long as you retrive it slow enouph to turn the blades and you can run it as low as five to eight feet. I use the 1/4 ounce #3 for bass and trout,#0 and #1 for crappie and other panfish, #5 for large bass and carp... anything really big. I have been a fan and always will be forever. Mepps is a part of my life and thats something I will never regret.

Joshua Murrow – North East Kansas, Kansas

Lure: Comet Mino

Fish Caught: Bass, Largemouth - Bass, Smallmouth - Bass, Striped - Bass, White - Bluegill (Bream, Brim) - Crappie (Black) - Crappie (White) - Trout, Rainbow - Walleye

To sum up this spinner anything that will feed on shad or minnows will hit a Mepps Comet Mino.

Joshua Murrow – North East Kansas, Kansas

Lure: Syclops

Fish Caught: Bass, Largemouth - Bass, Smallmouth - Bass, White - Crappie (Black) - Crappie (White) - Trout, Rainbow - Walleye

I have fished the Syclops for so long I don't remember using any other spoon. The Syclops can be casted, jigged or trolled. It is deadly throgh the ice or casting for bass. The #00 is excelent for crappie and trout and the #1 and #2 is promising for bass, walleye and other larger fish. I dont think you can fish this spoon wrong, just put it in the water and pull them out. Silver, gold and the black-and-white are good colors. The colored spoons are good with single hooks with a Mister Twister Grub.

Joshua Murrow – North East Kansas, Kansas

Lure: Black Fury

Fish Caught: Bass, Largemouth - Bass, Smallmouth - Bass, White - Bluegill (Bream, Brim) - Crappie (Black) - Crappie (White) - Trout, Rainbow - Walleye

The Aglia might be my spinner during the day, but, when it comes to low light evenings or overcast days where there is little sunlight, I go to the Black Fury. Yellow and florescent red are my faves. Just throw it and reel it in. It catches anything. Thanks, Mepps, you are my number one lure.

Joshua Murrow – Kansas

Lure: Aglia & Dressed Aglia

Fish Caught: Bass, Largemouth - Bass, Smallmouth - Bass, White - Bluegill (Bream, Brim) - Crappie (Black) - Crappie (White) - Sunfish (shellcracker) - Trout, Rainbow

What does the Aglia "not" catch? I have caught everything from bluegill, crappie, bass and even a few rainbow trout for Mepps awards. The Aglia plain catches everything that swims.

DJ Wells – Cheney, Kansas

Lure: Black Fury

Fish Caught: Bass, Largemouth - Bass, White - Crappie (Black)

I have not been shut out using this lure. I have had two of these lures one black tail with yellow dots and one black tail with the different tinted green dots(Hot Firetiger) and both have been quite successful in landing nice size fish.

Jordan – All Over

Lure: Aglia & Dressed Aglia

Fish Caught: Bass, Largemouth - Bass, Smallmouth - Bass, White - Crappie (Black) - Crappie (White) - Musky - Pike, Northern - Trout, Rainbow - Walleye

This lure is amazing! I had one that lasted me 2 years of heavy use until it got snagged and the line broke. But, it paid its dues producing well over 100 fish, mostly pike, and now I'm ordering 5 more I'm so impressed, best lure ever! Its practically cheating.

Bassman – Lake Livingston, Livingston, Texas

Lure: Black Fury

Fish Caught: Bass, Largemouth - Bass, Rock - Bass, Striped - Bass, White - Bluegill (Bream, Brim) - Crappie (Black) - Crappie (White) - Perch, White - Perch, Yellow

I've been bass fishing for 35 years, I caught my first 9 1/2 lb bass on a Fluorescent Orange Mepps Black Fury . Chartreuse Mepps Black Fury #3 is my best friend. When I don't want to search a long time for bass, I'll use the Black Fury, with the first 2 cast if I don't get any hits I'll move. Normally within 2 cast the fish are there. I've caught 2 to 3 lb crappie easy. This is the BEST lure made , next to the plastic worm . lol

Ricky Rose I – Lakes, ponds, and Creeks Though Out Southeast OKLA., Oklahoma

Lure: Aglia & Dressed Aglia

Fish Caught: Bass, Largemouth - Bass, White - Catfish, Channel - Crappie (White)

These lures will catch anything, Bass,Crappie, Goggle Eye, Sand Bass Catfish. If it swims in southeast OK, this lure is all you need.

Giles Blencoe – Little River, Woodstock, Georgia

Lure: Black Fury

Fish Caught: Bass, White

The Black Fury #1 in yellow, flouroescent orange, and white have been extremely sucessful on the Little River this Spring. These guys have been heading up stream from Lake Allatoona to spawn and they are definitely chomping on this lure at the surface. The Little River tends to be somewhat cloudy and I find the Black Fury attracts the fish even in these murky waters.

Bob Hayett – Clinton Reservoir, Kansas

Lure: XD

Fish Caught: Bass, White - Bluegill (Bream, Brim) - Catfish, Channel - Crappie (White) - Walleye

I have caught different species of fish on Mepps XD spinners. They are my absolute go-to lure whenever and wherever I fish.

John L. – Ashland, (Big Squam Lake), New Hampshire

Lure: Comet Mino

Fish Caught: Bass, Largemouth - Bass, Smallmouth - Bass, White - Pickerel - Trout, Rainbow

I bought my first Mepps Comet 2 about four years ago. I was a little skeptical at first, but after using it through the first summer, I could not believe how many different fish that lure was capable of attracting and catching. Big Squam is a great smallmouth bass lake but has a large variety of fish. Using this lure, in a variety of ways, including casting, trolling, bouncing over rocks and even casting it out and letting it fall to the bottom!!! The fish just seem to believe it's a real bait fish and they attack it. I have caught Largemouth, smallmouth, salmon, pickeral, whitefish, rainbow, even a bullhead with it. My lure box has never been out of this lure since the first time I used it. Sometime's they are hard to find, so now I buy more when I do fine them...Thanks, Mepp's for the great lure...
