Description
Mepps dressed Aglia spinners come in sizes #00 through #5. A #00 is a Mepps Ultra Lite and it weighs only 1/18 oz. These little trout and panfish lures are dressed with natural hackle. They are also available as wooly worms. The #0 Aglia Spin Fly is also a Wooly Worm. It too is perfect for both panfish and trout and weighs 1/12 oz. Larger dressed Aglias weigh up to 1/2 oz. (#5). The hooks on dressed Aglias in sizes #1-#5 are dressed with natural squirrel tail or bucktail.
Lure size is important. The general rule of thumb is use smaller lures to catch smaller fish and larger lures to catch larger fish.
Dressed Aglias (Ultra Lites and Wooly Worms) in size #00 or #0 are perfect for panfish (bluegills or sunfish) and small stream trout. They are very light, however, and require a nimble rod, equipped with a light action reel spooled with light line; nothing heavier than six-pound-test. Two-pound-test to four-pound-test is better. Dressed Aglias in size #1 and #2 are perfect for larger stream trout and large bluegills, sunfish and crappies. Size #2 Aglias are also excellent for smallmouth bass and walleye.
Mepps Aglias in sizes #3 and #4 are preferred by largemouth bass fishermen. In fact, the #3 dressed Mepps Aglia was rated the best all around lure for largemouth bass by the readers of Sports Afield magazine.
Size #4 and #5 Aglias are ideal for large rainbow trout and steelhead, as well as coho (silver) and chinook (king) salmon. Northern pike and giant tackle busting musky will inhale a dressed #5 Mepps spinner.

I've caught many a Bass with the Aglia Dressed spinners and I always keep several spares in case a tree limb gets in my way.
My brother, Jim, always said my Mepps weren't any better than other spinners 'til the time my brother and I were fishing in Foss Lake in Oklahoma and I was catching bass after bass - Finally he asked if I had another like it and I said it was the only one like it I had - Good day for me but he got no fish - I finally convinced him Mepps really do catch more fish.... Enough said? |

| Good for bass, but my best lure for big rainbows in the local streams! I usually outfish most people that are using live bait! If asked for my secret, I simply say "A Mepps"! |

| I recently went fishing with my grandpa who has all the gear and tackle but not the most know-how. I told him how when whenever I go fishing we always use Mepps spinners #3 and it is very rare that we ever go fishing without catching something. He didn't believe me at first, but he had a lot of Mepps in his box he said his friend had given him but he thought they weren't worth anything. He started to throw one out and about 15 minutes later he was hooked. He caught a 32" northern the first time we went out. Now whenever I ask him what he's going to use I know its going to be some kind of Mepps and we always catch fish. |

My girlfriend and I fish #5 Mepps dressed Aglias almost exclusively in mid-Maine lakes and ponds. Depending on weather, light conditions and water color we will choose the white dressed Aglia or the yellow dressed Black Fury.
We have had to buy multiples of each lure since some days they get chomped so badly that the dressing and paint get destroyed especially by the pike and big pickerel.
We have been experimenting with other color combos based on waht we see in the online catalog as well as on the Cabela's shelf on our weekly stop in Maine.
Thanks for some great lures. We already have three patches from the Master Angler program and are hoping to each be at four before year-end. |

| I use the #3 squirrel tail/silver blade, along with some custom made Mepps. I always have at least one pole with it on, sometimes 3 poles. I outfish everyone with this lure alone. |

| I have been using Mepps Algia spinner baits for over thirty years. Now that I can get them in #5's, I have been catching more quality (4-6 lbs) largemouth bass then ever. Great lure, easy to use, and very effective. |

| I received a Mepp's Aglia (Dressed Treble) #1 Brown Trout colour as a gift from my neighbours. I went out fishing with it for the first time up North in Canada. I found a little culvert and made a cast (my very first cast). I made one turn of the handle and felt a strong pull. The fish started to thrash around in the water and made one jump. I got him into the net and discovered that he swallowed the entire spinner. He weighed approximately 4lbs. I was using 4lb. test. Unfortuately he wasn't released because of the way he was hooked. My first trout on my MEPPS! |

Mr. Sheldon,
First of all I would like to applaud your grandfather for making the best lure out there. My father taught me at a very young age that a Mepps Aglia #3 gold-gray was the best lure on the planet. I caught my first fish on a lure with this model. As far as I knew, why use anything else. I can honestly say there has been thousands of fish caught on this lure by my family. I've caught largemouth bass, striper, sandbass, crappie, brim, and even catfish on this model. It never really matters if we are fishing a creek, pond, lake, or river. I've even caught trout, red drum, durado, ling and other salt water species off the Texas coast on the Aglia #3 gold-gray. I've caught browns and rainbows in Colorado on the Aglia #1 silver-gray. Aglias' catch everything! When you say it is the world's #1 lure, you aren't kiddin'!
All my bass fishing buddies laugh at me when I tie on the lucky Aglia #3 gold-gray. But they ain't laughing at the end of the day. They all have your lure in their tacklebox now! I could tell you many Mepps stories and probably write a book about it, and maybe one day I will. I'll dig around the archives and try and send you some pics of some great Mepps experiences. Once again, thank you and your family for producing the world's #1 lure.
Mepps Customer Always,

I use the #4 dressed Aglia I own almost every one. It by far is my best lure. It always delivers the big bass. I use a lot of rooster tail style lures and the biggist problem with them is keeping the spoon spinning. The Aglia hits the water and ALWAYS spins giving off a perfict vibration. I have even landed big hits, mear seconds after hitting the water.
bass 2lbs+, pike 35in+, shellcracker, walleye they all get it good. |

Now folks I've been fishing with Mepps Spinners since the early 1960's and they catch fish. I brag on My Mepps Spinners because they work. If you need one, either call Shep or call me because my tackle box is full of 'em and that is what's on my line. Mepps Spinners catch fish that is all there is to know.

| I suppose I'm violating the cardinal rule of fishing - never divulge the secret weapon. However, the secret to outfishing your friends is the #3 Red/White Aglia with brown dressing. That lure has never failed me when the fish are biting at all. I've caught bass, northern pike and even a couple walleyes! Its my lure of choice. |

I've been using an in-line spinner for about 5 years now and every time I go out fishing, I out-fish anybody out there by so much that they go and get a spinner the next day. As a matter of fact, I only have 1 out of 3 hooks left on my spinner because I've caught so many fish on it. The fish just can't resist a Mepps spinner.

| Ever since I was 12 years old, I have been using the number 4 dressed aglia spinner with a silver spinner and a white tail. It does wonders in residential ponds and in streams. If there is fish in the stream or pond you can bet your bottom dollar they will hit that lure. My buddies and I always have fish offs and I seem to always win no matter if we are doing it by weight or fish number because the big and small always hit this lure. I have caught my biggest bass with this lure and it weighed in at 5 pounds 5 onces on a brand new electronic Rainbo scale. I have not tried this lure out in the open on big lakes but I plan to this summer and I can depend on the same results that have got in the residential ponds and streams. |

Aglia #3
The Mepps Aglia is the classic Mepps spinner. Living up to its name, the Aglia blade has a classic steady beat as it is retrieved. In fact, a musician can count its quick beat... 1-2-3-4, 1-2-3-4. It's both lively and bright. Because the French blade on the Aglia spins at a steady 60° angle from the spinner's body, its sound is also steady and very easy to hear.
