Mille Lacs is widely known for it's "killer" walleye in the summer, and the frenzied perch in the winter. One fish that the lake is not known for is it's pike. Northern is what you might classify as a long lost secret. I discovered this secret shortly after my purchase of the Black Fury. I was on a, "well", tackle binge and I bought almost anything and everything. About a week or so after I went out to the lake, just for a cast or two, I went through a couple of lures with almost no luck. I was about to pack up and call it a day when I decided to use the Black Fury and, well, it lived up to it's name. The northern pike would not stop biting! It was the most fun I have ever had fishing. From that day on the Black Fury has become my lure of choice!Lure:

I was fishing with a Mepps #0 size Syclops. I had doubts in my mind that it would work better than a worm and a bobber. Well I was wrong! I was surprised it worked so well. I had caught 40 bluegill, one right after the other. The Syclops is a real "Wonderful Bait." Thank You Mepps!Lure: Little Wolf

Fish Caught: Pike, Northern
I was going through old tackle boxes and found a Comet Mino from 1973 that had never been opened before. So I opened the package and walked down to the river with my pole and made a few casts. On about the fourth cast I caught a 27" Northern Pike. I used that bait all night long and caught 7 more Pike ranging from 19-26". I was so impressed with the lure that I went to the store and bought more. I never leave the house to go fishing without a Mepps Comet Mino or other Mepps products.Lure: Thunder Bug

Here is another great lure from Mepps. These little guys catch tons. They can out fish live bait on any given day and pound for pound, I can catch twice as many trout as a guy with flies can in an hour. I recommend these to anybody who sees me with them and they sometimes see me again and show me how their tackle box is now filled with them. Once again the people at Mepps outdo themselves. I bought a few of these lures when my local tackle shop first started stocking them and took them out fishing the next day for salmon and steelhead. What a lure! In the first hour I had caught more salmon and steelhead than most of the other anglers who had been out their all morning. I was also able to land a nearly 27 lb. Landlocked salmon. Mepps has made their lures and deals the best money can buy again. I bought one of these specials for my birthday and wow! These lures are really cheap (I mean way, way, way marked down) and yet are still as great as their counterparts. I guess I should have expected that from Mepps. I was fishing a really nice river that had just been opened to the public using a Mepps Agila Plain Treble when all of the sudden a huge bucketmouth nailed my lure. After about a five minute long battle in a small canoe, I landed, weighed, and measured the big guy. It was about 20 in. long and weighed a little over 4 and a half pounds. I love these lures! I've been using them for near to four years now and they are great. They often produce fish when no other lure will. I have caught probably eight different species of fish on these little lures and find them wonderful. I have been continually asked by other anglers what these lures were and where I got them after seeing me catch fish after fish in only a matter of minutes. It had to have been like 3 am and I was dead tired. I was walking down the trail at dusk it was a clammy morning. I was sooo sick of fishin and then I grabbed my grab bag fulll of all these goodies. The Thunder Bug is the most productive spinner for trout I ever used. It out fishes any other lure in my box, it continues to catch trout at a high rate. I would recommend this lure to anybody.
