We were fishing midday on a lake known for its largemouth. It was hot and sunny, and we werent expecting to do anything but check out the sights from the canoe. We saw an eagle and some osprey, so it was a good day. We drifted past some shoreline rocks that extended into the lake, so I tossed the white #5 dressed Aglia right up to them. After three cranks the lure was stopped dead. I reared back on the rod and that sent the smallie into the air. I could see his coloring right away and knew it wasn't a largemouth. I was ecstatic and tried to keep it in the water so it would throw the lure. My girlfriend netted it finally. The Boga grip showed 3.0 lbs and we both realized we had our first Master Angler badge in our hands. That made it a great day!
We are fishing Mepps exclusively now while we are both trying to get as many Master Angler chevrons as we can.
