Each year, Texas Parks and Wildlife releases rainbow trout into the tailrace of Canyon lake. Because water is released from bottom of the dam, the water never gets above 70 degrees so the trout thrive. Southernmost trout hatchery in the US. Kayak fishing using inline spinners on a chilly, windy afternoon, but this one made it worth the trip, weekend of the GRTU annual Troutfest for fly fishing folks. Although I don't care for fly fishing, they seemed to be tearing it up out there, too. Good day!
