Had been catching lots of 3 and 4 lbs smallmouth on rocky shoals. This one came up and hit it right at the boat. I spun the drag real loose and held on for over 8 minutes . Got him to the boat 7 times before I finally could reach down and grab him. It was a light spinning rod with 8 lb test and the lure was completely inhaled. Did not think I had a chance to land him but fortunately the line somehow avoided those sharp teeth.
