Just killing a few minutes in my urban jungle and testing out my new Comet Mino. I bet not too many people snag exotics like this beautiful Mayan Cichlid with these! They’re extremely feisty for their size and like to ambush near shorelines. It may not look as impressive as some of the huge pikes and muskies people snag but this is a very large specimen for the species.
I was almost fully reeled in and this fella absolutely smoked the lure only a few feet away from me. Came up like a thunderclap and almost jumped out of the water, gave me quite a scare! I couldn’t get a better picture because it was so angry it shook itself free and back in the water it went.
