Thirty years of fishing in Wisconsin...my first bowfin after two months of actively trying to find them here in Tomah, Wisconsin, where my grandfather used to spear them while carp fishing 20 plus years ago. The local biologist and the local fisherman told me they haven't seen any around here in recent years because they are usually killed when caught for some reason I don't quite understand. Caught this one in the backwaters of a river about 5 miles from my place. So, the Mepps I used caught a fish that even the fisheries biologist said wasn't in the river anymore. Sorry for the blurry photo, it was taken with a $15 phone when the sun had all but gone down.
