An old fishing buddy of mine contacted me recently and wanted to know if I wanted to come up and visit him. I'm from California and he had moved to Oregon a few years ago. He told me that Salmon season had opened and he has a public river not far from where he lived. He lived in Veneta and the Siuslaw river was a bout a 20 minute drive from there. We got down there and I had asked him "I've been trying to catch some qualifying fish to send in to Mepps. Do you have any Mepps lures?" He said he did and handed me the Mepps Flying C, it had a silver blade and the sleeve was Chartreuse. After a few casts, it felt like I had hooked into a log. The fight lasted 10 minutes until my good friend had successfully netted the fish. Catch of a lifetime for sure.
