My Story

Fishing at my buddies remote family cabin in Canada. We had been catching lots of lakers and I finally convinced him to pike fish! He takes me to where he caught his PB Pike, and nothing. So he asks, "Will it help to get closer, to where the creek comes in?" I said, "I'm sure it will." Where this swamp creek came into the lake was kind of a faux bay, not really seperate from the main lake. The creek gave way to a slab of shallow rock, that when it dropped down, it dropped to boulders, and then to really nice weeds. A legit perfect spot. I casted way up onto the slab of rock, and started reeling. I was watching my lure in the clear water until I reeled slower letting the lure get closer to the boulders and weeds. I got SLAMMED and immediately knew it was big. I started reeling like crazy because it started swimming right at us! Luckily, it was hooked really well. In the chaos, my friend dropped his rod and his spoon was hanging off the back of the boat. My pike swam to the right side of the boat, then the left, then to the back. It was doing whatever it wanted. Once it got to the back of the boat, it JUMPED, and managed to hook my buddies hanging spoon onto my line. Soon enough his pole flies into the water along with my fish! So now hes trying to net the fish and get his pole! He manages to grab his pole and get his spoon back, all the while netting my fish. A true team effort! Easily my biggest pike ever at 37.25" and just a stunningly beautiful fish! Will never forget that night!
