Lure: Musky Marabou

Fish Caught: Musky

I have registered 166 Muskies to date in the Muskies Inc Lunge Log and 88 of those were caught on Mepps Musky Marabou’s. Biggest so far is 47-1/2”. Favorite color is black skirt and pink blade. Mixing and matching blade/skirt colors can be key to success on pressures water. Last chartreuse and pink was great!

Joseph Sterkowicz – Illinois

Lure: Bronze Slammer

Fish Caught: Bass, Largemouth - Musky - Pike, Northern

Can't tell you the lake or color. This lure rocks. Gonna fish up North in the land of Cheese.I have a feeling Wally will join the party.

Jordan Kay – Wisconsin, Illinois

Lure: Minos

Fish Caught: Bass, Largemouth - Bluegill (Bream, Brim) - Catfish, Blue - Musky - Perch, Yellow - Pike, Northern - Walleye

The Perch Mino and Rainbow Blade combo is crazy. I have had multiple musky over 40" hit it. Make sure you are using the correct gear.

Gary Gore – Rainy Lake Ontario, Illinois

Lure: Syclops

Fish Caught: Bass, Smallmouth - Crappie (Black) - Perch, Yellow - Pike, Northern - Walleye

The Mepps Syclops hands down is the BEST Lure to use on Rainy Lake. It outperforms everything else and catches multiple species of fish. I've caught several trophy Northern over the years on this bait. I prefer size #3.

Lure: Musky Marabou

Fish Caught: Bass, Largemouth - Musky - Pike, Northern

I have used many inline spinners and was going to start building my own because most musky spinners use a regular skirt or tinsel, I decided to try the Mepps Musky Marabou in Hot Firetiger(orange yellow and green.) Much to my surprise musky wasn't the only fish we caught with it, we caught plenty of pike on it also, but the biggest surprise was when I caught 4 largemouth in 4 consecutive casts and the smallest was 3-1/2 pounds and the largest was just over 6lb; for Illinois waters that is a rare fish on a bait for musky!!! After that day, I set my mind not to buy all the components to make my own cause the Musky Marabou is what I would use as a template, maybe when I get some free time I may build some, but for now my 16 Musky m
Marabous I bought have been doing the trick. I would recommend the bait to people but the downside is the Marabou loses the colors relatively quickly and after a number of fish the Marabou comes undone. I wish they would sell a Musky Marabou with a quick connect so you could change marabou colors, like a gold blade with one all black and another tail section with all red or red and black. I wish they would sell just the marabou pieces by themselves, out of my 16 baits only 7 are still in good condition, the others are so worn there isn't enough marabou to even cover the 2 treble hooks or the marabou is so faded you almost can't tell the colors cause they're so faded. Make a Musky Marabou with a way to change the marabou and with a clevis to be able to switch blades and it would be the perfect lure, swap blades and colors quickly, charge a little more and put a different color blade and tail with each lure as most of us musky guys would buy them all up from you!! Thanks for a great lure and hopefully you take some of my advice and I will never build my own if I can buy a reasonably priced perfect bait

Lure: Syclops

Fish Caught: Bass, Smallmouth - Perch, Yellow - Pike, Northern - Walleye

The Syclops lure year after year proves to be the TOP lure in my tackle box. I used to use only orange, but have recently found that experimenting with different colors has a huge reaction to fish strikes depending on the weather, water temp, etc. This past June in Canada, Northern were chasing the orange, but slamming the silver Syclops. It made for a wonderful trip and an addition to my wall with 38" Northern with a 16" Girth. Thank You Mepps!

Lure: Spin Flies

Fish Caught: Trout, Rainbow

While on vacation in N Georgia, I took time to fish with my Ultra Lite on the Soque River. I wanted to just relax and possibly net a few rainbows. To my suprise, I caught a number of really big rainbow trout, one was a 10.7 lb monster! All of the fish were caught on my favorite little Wooly Worm Spin Fly by Mepps. I made a YouTube video of the catch and release and give Mepps credit! Look up "Big Rainbow Trout on the Soque River" by Brent Alexander 1 and check it out! Thank you for making the best lure in the world!

Lure: Comet Mino

Fish Caught: Bass, Largemouth

The Comet Mino is my go to lure for any fishing situation. I was fishing in a large pond and had just recently bought the number 4 Comet Mino, the biggest I could find, and tried it out. I had great success 2 very nice 2-3 pound largemouths. The most dissapointing part of the day was when I hooked onto a monster largemouth (6+ pounds) and he threw the hook 5 feet from shore... but still a great day. Thanks MEPPS for making my trips succesful.

Lure: Aglia & Dressed Aglia

Fish Caught: Carp

Wow...while fishing for pike I noticed a large carp over 10 pounds in the shallows. On a lark, I swam my #5 Mepps Aglia in front of her nose only to watch the huge carp inhale my spinner! Was an incredible battle with powerful runs to mid-river but I did land that fish. 12 pound carp...so much fun.
Two days later...I caught a 16 inch channel cat on the same #5 and some pike up to 24 inches. What else can you say?!

Susan S – Cedar Lake, Canada - Gile Flowage, Hurley WI, Illinois

Lure: Aglia & Dressed Aglia

Fish Caught: Bass, Largemouth - Bass, Smallmouth - Musky - Pike, Northern - Walleye

Yep, these lures catch about almost anything and everything. Size of what a Mepps can catch that is alive, ranges from minnows to children and everything in between (in my father's case that is). When you put on a Mepps Aglia it feels like you're cheating in the fishing world, it's just that damn good. Anyways the colors my family have used and been successful on are: orange painted with either the black or grey tail, the Brown Trout with a grey tail, the Rainbow Trout paint with white or grey tail, silver blade and white tail, hot pink paint and black tail with a red feather down the middle. Really every single one of the colors works, if the color you have isn't working, keep switching to a different color until you find one that works. To cut down your searching time, ask other people at the dock or on the lake fishing what color they have been catching fish on, or go by how dark or light it is outside. Dark colors on a dark day and bright colors on a bright day. Oh, and we use size #'s 3,4,5,and Musky Killers.

Fish Caught: Bass, Largemouth - Trout, Lake - Trout, Rainbow

Fishing season has not even started here in Northeastern Illinois and I have already caught more fish than all of last season thanks to Mepps! OK . . . I hate to give away my secret, but by using the #1 & 2 white Aglia dressed spinner, I caught 15 largemouth bass in a couple of hours. Granted they were not very large, but a lot of fun for the first bass of spring. Then while trout fishing, I was tired of watching trout swim past my dough and nibble bait, so I picked up my other rod and began to toss the #2 white Aglia dressed spinner and BAM!!! I had a nice rainbow trout on. My wife did the same with a #1 and began to catch trout as well. We caught 5 very nice trout, with my wife catching the largest!

Lure: Aglia & Dressed Aglia

Fish Caught: Pike, Northern

Let's just say....if I could only take "one" lure with me anywhere in the world to fish, it would be by far a #5 Mepps spinner. These lures catch everything when other lures produce nothing. It's true because I've proved it over and over. Pike simply cannot resist them. Best lure ever!!!!
Many thanks to the Sheldon legacy!!!!!

Lure: Black Fury

Fish Caught: Bass, Largemouth - Crappie (White)

Found this lure on sale when I was shopping one day. Picked it up, tried and it WOW. Got my first hit for the year on the 2nd cast. I caught a total of twelve bass on it in one evening. Went out to the same lake again, caught another five... and then I lost the lure in a tree. I then cycled through my other brand name lures and didn't catch another fish for the evening. I'm definitely going back to pick up more of these lures.

Lure: Spin Flies

Fish Caught: Bass, Largemouth - Bluegill (Bream, Brim) - Crappie (Black) - Crappie (White) - Sunfish (shellcracker)

I love this little lure! I am convinced it will catch just about anything with fins. I remember one day in particular, my brothers and I were fishing a private lake. I was throwing a red wooly worm, and it seemed like I was catching something every other cast. My brothers, who were not doing as well, asked what I was using and if I had any more that they could use. I will be stocking up pretty soon for this upcoming season.

Chris Fitzgerald – Fox River, Cary, Illinois

Lure: Comet Mino

Fish Caught: Bass, Largemouth - Bass, Smallmouth - Catfish, Channel - Musky - Pike, Northern - Walleye

You name it, I caught it on this lure. I only fish with one lure because it produces over and over. The Comet is great for any condition at any lake or river. From Smallies to Largemouth to Walleye to Channel Cats to Northern Pike and even Muskies this lure just plain works. 36" Pike, 38" Musky, 5.75# Smallie are just a few of the of the fine fish caught on this lure. Good luck finding the 4's and 5's in a 15 mile radius of me, I bought them all!

Jim Haste – Bayles Lake Near Loda, Illinois, USA, Illinois

Lure: Aglia & Dressed Aglia

Fish Caught: Bass, Largemouth

Love the Aglia plain treble. This lure has definitely delivered the most consistent results for many years. The Aglia has caught everything from largemouth, smallmouth and striped bass, walleye, crappie, big bluegill and even a five-pound catfish. This thing catches everything. If you want to go after only bigmouths, tie on a #3 or #4.

Sue Zdroik – Lake Vermilion, Illinois

Lure: Black Fury

Fish Caught: Pike, Northern

I used this lure the last time I went to the lake..it was the only lure that produced alot of northerns. Whenever fishing is slow I can count on this lure to pull through for me. All the Black Fury's are good producers. My favorite is the chartreuse dots and the white dots. I have also caught a good number of bass on Black Fury's...CANT GO WRONG with this lure.

Ron Bell – Winchester, Illinois

Lure: Aglia & Dressed Aglia

A must-have, keep several on hand. This spinner catches small bluegill [hard to believe the hooks fit their mouth],channel cat, bass, crappie, striped bass, bowfin, great lure, very affordable. I have used in lakes, rivers, and ponds if it's biting this will get them. The sipping blade attracts the red tube nails them, I always have the red tube on the hook. If I could only have one lure this would be it. THANKS DAD FOR LETTING ME USE YOURS, I'VE HAD ONE EVER SINCE, MISS YOU, YOUR GRANDKIDS LOVE IT ALSO.

Peter Bonacci – Schiller Park, Illinois

Joe Kalisz – South Elgin, Illinois

Lure: Bucktails and Tandem Bucktails

The tandem bucktail with a #5 Mepps blade has produced several 40"-plus fish for me. I'm going to tie this product into the new LongCast spinner in my favorite combos and see what it does. Set the hook!!!!!

alex loubere – DeKalb, Illinois

Lure: Aglia & Dressed Aglia

Fish Caught: Pike, Northern

You should seriously put pike on that chart, because plain Aglias catch big northerns like nobody's business!
