Lure: Aglia & Dressed Aglia

Fish Caught: Salmon, Chinook (king)

I was using a Mepps Aglia #3 hot orange. On my third cast, I caught a 9 1/2 lb 30 inch Chinook. I've been fishing since I was 5 years old. I'm 41 and have used Mepps my whole life. I LOVE THESES LURES.I don't know how many fish I've caught with Mepps lures but I have confidence every time I use them.

THANKS Mepps!

Lure: Aglia Long

Fish Caught: Bass, Smallmouth

Well one day I went fishing at my favorite fishing hole. I was using my Aglia Long treble hook Rainbo Scale. As I was reeling it in I caught a 14 incher bass! At a diffrent lake later, I caught another bass. Both bass caught on my Aglia Long, Ive been testing it now it's summer and haven't had any luck. I think they like it in spring. Try it in Spring.

At a diffrent lake later I caught another bass. Both bass caught on my Aglia Long, I've been testing it now its more into summer and haven't had any luck. I think they like this color in Spring. Try it in Spring. I also one was reeling it in and felt a bite and set the hook but didn't feel anything so as I was pulling it up I saw a 2 inch bluegill on it!

Lure: Dorsal Fin

Fish Caught: Bass, Largemouth

I received a complimentary Dorsal Fin because of my purchase of other products through Mepps and thought this is a strange looking lure. But, this past month I decided to try it out. Two friends were along and we had caught a lot of small bass and noon was close at hand. I was in a back part of the lake where I never caught anything, so I tried the Dorsal Fin throwing down along a grass line. When the fish hit, I knew immediately it was a big one and hollered "Get the net". My buddies looked in vain as it was at their home. Don Byer from Bicknel said, "I can lip him". He did and the largemouth was 21 inches long and the largest I had caught in several months. The Dorsal Fin worked at noon on a bright, warm day in southern Indiana! John Vanderbeck

Fish Caught: Salmon, Coho (silver)

Well I've got to say that #3 Mepps spinners are the best for Coho Salmon here in Indiana. Anytime I'm out on the water I'm gonna be catching lots of Coho's as long as I have my Mepps. I like using single hooks for 3 reasons. One is they won't foul hook the other fish in the pool that easy. Two you can fish log jams and not snag up as easy. Three, once you get a good hook-set the spinner is not going get out of the fish that easy. Many different colors that work great for these fish. It all depends on water temp, water color & water levels. For example, if the weather has been cool with alot of rain, use #3 gold blades because the water will be high and muddy. There are many different kinds of gold blades to use. I find that "See Best" spinners with gold blades are great, as well as Aglia gold with "Red/White". Even some of the hot colored spinners are good in these conditions. Because the "Hot Firetiger" has gold on the back of the blade.

Now when the water is high and muddy look for areas with fast current and etc. Go to a deep pool, stand at the front of the pool where the most current is, cast your spinner to the back of the pool, and let the current do most of the work for you. Yes you will have to reel the spinner in, but it should be at the point where the spinner is almost ready to stop spinning. This gives the fish alot of time to decide if he or she wants to hit it or not. Most of the time they will go for it. But always keep your tip down to the water so the spinner stays down deep. Also you will get alot of very soft hits useing this tip. Always be ready to set the hook at all times. I've lost many fish due to short soft strikes.

Most important make sure when you get to the end of your cast that you keep it in the water as much as you can before you pull the spinner out for your next cast. Coho for some reason like to watch what they are going after for while before they actually hit it. 9 times out of 10 they will hit right before the spinner comes out of the water. I have even had them try to jump out and grap my spinner before. If you do this you might even get to watch the fish hit the spinner before you even feel the fish hit. That give you a perfect hook set if you time it out correct. Nothing thrills me more than watching the fish nail the spinner. Hope this helps you out in the furture.

Good fishing,

~Ted (Meppsman)

Jeff Armstrong – Wheatfield, Indiana

Lure: Comet Mino

Fish Caught: Pike, Northern

I have used 00 to size 5 to catch anything that swims. I have used these lures for over 20 years and would not be without one. If I had to pack a survival kit, this would be in it.

From Redfin Pike in irrigation canals here in Indiana to Northerns in Ontario, this lure is devastating!!

I guess the best way to sum it up would be to say, "I collect Rapala, but I use Mepps!!!".

All you have to do is cast and crank and you will catch fish.

I owe my Expert Fisherman and Master Angler Awards to these!!!

Mike Edward – Carmel, Indiana

Lure: Black Fury

Fish Caught: Bass, Largemouth

This spinner caught me 12 largemouth bass in an hour and all were above 2 lbs. works excellent in all kinds of water, I found it effective most when I casted about 25 feet from shore and worked it medium fast. This is a great spinner and I still have the one I caught all the bass on and I still use it. These lures can take a beating and still function like you just took it out of the package.

Ben Hession – Brownsburg, Indiana

Lure: Aglia & Dressed Aglia

Fish Caught: Bass, Largemouth

Ever since I was 12 years old, I have been using the number 4 dressed aglia spinner with a silver spinner and a white tail. It does wonders in residential ponds and in streams. If there is fish in the stream or pond you can bet your bottom dollar they will hit that lure. My buddies and I always have fish offs and I seem to always win no matter if we are doing it by weight or fish number because the big and small always hit this lure. I have caught my biggest bass with this lure and it weighed in at 5 pounds 5 onces on a brand new electronic Rainbo scale. I have not tried this lure out in the open on big lakes but I plan to this summer and I can depend on the same results that have got in the residential ponds and streams.
