Lure: Double Blade Aglia
Fish Caught: Bass, Largemouth - Bass, Smallmouth - Pike, Northern
My fishing partner Steve and I tried over ten other lures to catch pike we knew were in his lake. Once we found the Mepps Double Bladed Aglia black spoon with gold skirt we finally started catching instead of just fishing. Both of us have caught over 5 pike over 30 inches and I caught a 40 inch monster that I'm very proud of. The Mepps Double Blade by far has outperformed the rest of the lures on the market designed to catch these stealthy monsters. Our lake is small but the pike are huge if you can get em to bite and this bait has shown us both how me pis stands alone in a dependable lure. The pike we don't get to hit follow this lure all the way to the boat on many occasions. That in itself makes fishing exciting and interesting.Lure: Timber Doodle
Fish Caught: Bass, Largemouth
Well, my buddy had live minnows. I had the Mepps Timber Doodle 1/4 oz silver with the 4" white split Double Tail Grub. We're on a drop-off casting into the open weed pockets letting the Doodle fall on its own. He would pull up a bass on live bait and I would, too. We went catching doubles for a while then the Timber Doodle decided enough was enough and pulled ahead on the numbers of bass caught. They stopped hitting the live bait and the Doodle stayed working. I didn't want to ruin my buddy's fishing trip, but, he learned a lesson about using quality lures. I did nothing but add a shot of bass scent and let it dance down in the weed pockets. Now, asks me, you don't have a few Timber Doodles yet? You haven't ordered it yet?Lure: Flying C
Fish Caught: Salmon, Kokanee
5/8 oz pink body silver spinner caught kokanee all day trolling with an additional 1/2 to 3/4 ounce lead trolling weight.Lure: Aglia & Dressed Aglia
Fish Caught: Bass, Largemouth
It was another tough, tough day at a private pond near my in-laws. The conditions couldn't have been worse and after 1.5hrs and only 3 fish to my name...I was ready to throw in the towel. I threw just about every lure I could think of that would work in shallow weedy conditions and was ready to throw in the towel until I remembered how easily it was to keep an Aglia right above the weeds in this shallow water.Lure: Black Fury
Fish Caught: Bass, Largemouth - Bass, Smallmouth - Perch, Yellow - Pickerel - Pike, Northern - Walleye
Whenever I go out fishing anywhere I always make sure I carry AT LEAST 2 Black Fury's dressed. My personal preference is Black/Chartreuse in a #5. I have caught countless Northerns on these (and I only retire them after the paint and stickers are mostly shredded off by teeth marks). I currently have 3 of them with all of the paint stripped off and another on the way. They produce bar none. I had a fishing competition just this past week. Fishing was real rough as only 4 Northerns were caught. 3 of them were by me with the Black Fury. I have never gone out with this lure and not caught a fish. I am amazed at the successfulness of this lure and highly recommend it to all of my friends and anyone else who is reading this! Mepps has my loyalty and money for life!
