Lure: Syclops
Fish Caught: Trout, Sea/Speckled
My Gold Syclops promptly arrived today and I caught numerous Seatrout. The lure casts perfectly and works really well.Lure: Syclops
Fish Caught: Redfish - Trout, Sea/Speckled
The salt water Syclops is an amazing all species lure. The 8 gram and 12 gram lures in both gold and silver are my go to bait on the Tampa Bay flats. Throw along the mangroves to catch redfish and snook. Cast in 3 to 5 feet over grass and use a steady retrieve to catch speckled sea trout, blue fish, Spanish mackerel, jacks and more. Jig the small syclops to catch pompano and snappers.Lure: Aglia & Dressed Aglia
Fish Caught: Trout, Sea/Speckled
I've fished with MEPPS since 1989 and they have always proved to be the #1 go-to spinner for Trout, Sea-Trout and Salmon. Yesterday, I had 2 nice fish (very unusual for a single day on this local river); 2 x Sea Trout - both on a Gold MEPPS Size 3 Aglia. You guys simply ROCK :-)Lure: Minos
Fish Caught: Bass, Largemouth - Bass, Smallmouth - Bluegill (Bream, Brim) - Crappie (Black) - Perch, Yellow - Salmon, Coho (silver) - Salmon, Sockeye (red) - Steelhead - Sunfish (shellcracker) - Trout, Brook - Trout, Brown - Trout, Cutthroat - Trout, Lake - Trout, Rainbow - Trout, Sea/Speckled - Salmon, Chinook (king)
These Mino spinners have been one of the greatest lures I have ever used, everything likes them, to the point that I have several of each size in three different tackle boxes. When nothing is biting on anything I throw in, all I have to do is throw one of these in and let the fun begin. I prefer the chad, but also have the Rainbows just in case the weather turns bad, seems the worse the weather, the Rainbows work better. These are also good for SEA TROUT in southern FL. Great all around lures.Lure: Aglia & Dressed Aglia
Fish Caught: Bass, Sea - Mackerel - Pike, Northern - Salmon, Atlantic - Trout, Brown - Trout, Rainbow - Trout, Sea/Speckled
In England these lures are dissappearing, no one stocks them and can't be bothered to get them, I see the Comets have dissappeared from the catalog as well, darn shame, best Salmon & Trout catchers going, if there's a fish in the pool, second if not first cast guanteed.Lure: Aglia & Dressed Aglia
Fish Caught: Trout, Brown - Trout, Rainbow - Trout, Sea/Speckled
Hi, well as a complete Fishing Novice, (7 weeks as of this write up), I was having trouble catching anything so I did some homework on the local fish species to see what the lakes were stocked with.Lure: Syclops
Fish Caught: Mackerel - Redfish - Trout, Sea/Speckled - Snook
I never even heard of Mepps until a friend of mine showed me his collection of Saltwater Syclops'. We took off one morning/afternoon and launched the boat at the local boat ramp down the street hitting a few of the bars/flats near the house and caught multiple keeper size Speckled Sea Trout! After about an hour of non-stop trout action, we decided to motor up to the backside of Clearwater to a popular night time snook hole of mine to see what we could find on the flat out back the hole and we were catching keeper spanny macks....in the intracoastal waterway!Lure: Thunder Bug
Fish Caught: Grayling - Pike, Northern - Trout, Brown - Trout, Sea/Speckled
I have used the Thunder Bug spinner in several colors and sizes. The Blue Tail Fly/silver color is perfect for sea trout. If the fish are there, they take it. Also, the regular brown trout are glad to see one of these spinners. Either brown or yellow in March. I have caught 15-20 brown trout within a couple of hours fishing. A little trick to stop the spinner from twisting the line is to bend the eye 30-45 degrees. Be careful not to bend the shaft below the twisting, or you will end up with a spinner that doesn't work at all. Bending the eye down a little not only stop the lure from twisting the line, but also makes it go in the water in a S formation. The fly lies straight out behind the lure, the eye follows the line, and the body lies in a 30-45 degree angle. Some times the lure will even fish much better after performing this little trick. Some Dragon Fly nymphs have this position when swimming in the open water, or when they are ready to strike a pray.Lure: Aglia & Dressed Aglia
Fish Caught: Trout, Sea/Speckled
Comfortably the most popular spinner in the UK. The simple silver, gold and copper account for some of the best fish taken in this country. Popularly used for fishing salmon and sea trout throughout the UK. These are a "must-have" on any serious fishng trip.Lure: Black Fury
Fish Caught: Trout, Sea/Speckled
The black and yellow has long been a favorite with UK fishers in pursuit of large wild brown trout. Increasingly though the Black Fury has been used as a sea trout and salmon lure. I strongly recommend the black and fluorescent red dot combination - it performs well in both low and high water conditions and is especially useful in highly coloured water. In the UK sizes 2 and 3 are most popular with the 4 reserved for faster waters. The 0 and 1 are used principally used as surface lures with the rod held high the lure is allowed to swing around in the current.
