Lure: Black Fury

Fish Caught: Bass, Largemouth - Bass, Smallmouth - Bluegill (Bream, Brim) - Carp - Crappie (Black) - Crappie (White) - Perch, Yellow - Pickerel - Sunfish (shellcracker) - Trout, Rainbow

I have been fishing Mepps lures since I was a kid. I'm 58 now. I used to only use Black Fury's in muddy water. But one time I went fishing and the water was clear. But I already had a Black Fury tied on. So I decided to fish it a while before changing it. First cast, bam. Nice largemouth. Third cast, another. And I continued catching fish. Needless to say, I never changed the lure to an Aglia that day. Since then I have been using the Black Fury's a lot more. I think it is my most productive Mepps. My favorite is Fluorescent Red. Second is pink. I don't have any white yet, but I think they would be great as well. If you aren't fishing Black Fury's, you are missing out.

Lure: Aglia Tandem

Fish Caught: Bass, Largemouth - Crappie (White) - Perch, Yellow - Pike, Northern

Banner fishing day catching four species of fish on the same lure, that's right, the Mepps Aglia 5 in one day. Northern were very active and commonly crush the bait. Then oddly enough a perch took it later in the day. Crappie then decided to get in the act. Yet the largemouth bass was the prize of the day. Slow and steady with the retrieve, just make sure you can feel the pulse of the blade turning; and you are golden. Fish on.

Mike Brooks – Everett Dam, Weare, New Hampshire

Lure: Aglia & Dressed Aglia

Fish Caught: Bluegill (Bream, Brim) - Crappie (White) - Perch, Yellow - Pickerel

Bluegill, Crappie, Perch, Pickerel all in the same day with a Mepps Aglia! A Mepps spinner is the first lure I go with, and am rarely disappointed! I've caught so many varieties of fish over the years on a Mepps spinner, I absolutely love them! Thanks for producing such an awesome product!

Tim – Ocqueoc River, Michigan

Lure: Thunder Bug

Fish Caught: Bass, Rock - Bass, Smallmouth - Bluegill (Bream, Brim) - Crappie (White) - Perch, Yellow - Salmon, Pink - Steelhead - Trout, Brook - Trout, Brown - Trout, Rainbow - Walleye

My all time favorite, the Mepps Thunder Bug White Miller in any weight. Been fishing Mepps since I was a kid over 50 years now. I lose them and replace them every so often, still the best lure in the market, hands down!

Casey Poffenberger – River, Ponds, Ohio

Lure: Aglia & Dressed Aglia

Fish Caught: Bass, Largemouth - Bass, Smallmouth - Bluegill (Bream, Brim) - Crappie (White) - Catfish, Bullhead (brown, yellow & black)

Kevin Hurley – Muskegon, Michigan

Lure: Little Wolf

Fish Caught: Bass, Largemouth - Bass, Smallmouth - Bass, White - Bluegill (Bream, Brim) - Bowfin - Catfish, Channel - Crappie (White) - Perch, Yellow - Trout, Brown

I spent 160 dollars to get the free hoodie that was offered for orders 150 dollars. First, the hoodie and hat are excellent quality. Absolutely love them. I grew up with a father that taught me Mepps are the best. I moved to an area that wasn't great for fishing without a boat and got big into catfishing on the bottom with live bait. Well, I moved back to Michigan and realized I needed to get back into lure fishing. I thought 150 dollars might be a little extreme, so I decided to catalog the fish I caught to see if the money was worth it. Here's where I'm at a month in fishing exclusively with my Mepps order:
52 large mouth bass
7 small mouth bass
27 bluegill
12 perch
4 white bass
5 channel cats (all over 8lbs and largest at 18lbs)
2 brown trout
5 bowfin
4 crappie

All that and I've only used 5 of the lures I got so far. The only lure I used and didn't land a fish was a Thunderbug that a small musky broke off. The Little Wolf spoon has been fantastic for me. Never used spoons much but tried it out and caught fish on the first 3 casts. Don't sleep on the grab bags. Wouldn't have known how great the Little Wolf is if I didn't get it in the grab bag.

All my fishing friends keep trying to push me on other lures but I think the results prove what my father always said "Mepps is the best". Looking forward to losing enough of my new lures so I can justify another 150 dollar order.

Ralston Heath – Kissimmee, Florida

Lure: Aglia-e

Fish Caught: Carp - Crappie (White)

Using the silver with red dots, on an overcast day in December. I caught crappie on my second cast. Not listed on the choices is a fish called a Tilapia. (chose the carp option as they look closer than any other choices) Caught a few of those too. End of the day was two crappie and five tilapia. Tried the gold with red dots, got nothing. Put the silver with red dots back on and was catching fish again. I recommend the silver with red for catching fish here in central Florida.

Luke Sears – Annapolis, Maryland

Lure: Aglia & Dressed Aglia

Fish Caught: Bass, Largemouth - Bass, Rock - Bluegill (Bream, Brim) - Catfish, Blue - Catfish, Channel - Crappie (White) - Perch, White - Pickerel - Sunfish (shellcracker)

I've been using all sorts of lures cheap ones, expensive ones, all kinds, but no other lure has worked as good as a Mepps. They can literally catch any fish. Wherever I go I take one with me because if I see a fishing pond, I know I'm guaranteed to get one with the Mepps.

Mark Baumbach – Lake Geneva Wisconsin, Wisconsin

Lure: Aglia Long

Fish Caught: Bass, Smallmouth - Bluegill (Bream, Brim) - Crappie (White) - Perch, White - Walleye

I fish the Mepps Aglia Long in the #0,1 and 2 blade sizes. These lures absolutely put fish in the boat. They will catch anything!! Primarily fishing for bass, walleye and panfish, this is my go to lure. I usually have 2 rods rigged with an Aglia Long with different blades. One of them is going to work. I fish a lot, and can't recommend these enough!!

Paul Evon – Bad River, St. Charles Michigan, Michigan

Lure: Aglia & Dressed Aglia

Fish Caught: Bass, Largemouth - Bass, Smallmouth - Bluegill (Bream, Brim) - Crappie (White) - Perch, Yellow - Pike, Northern - Catfish, Bullhead (brown, yellow & black)

I have had nothing but the best of luck with the Mepps plain Aglia spinners (# 1, 2, 3)
I like spinners because I have more control of their depth and they do not sink very far down.I have caught bullhead and panfish, all types of bass and the mighty Northern Pike. My guess is that spinners mimmick insects so that would attract just about any species of fish. I have the best luck with the red and white blades. I have over $200 of lures in my tackle box but I only use Mepps spinners 95% of the time. I am a Mepps fan for life.....

Kenneth Adamik – Greenwood Lake, New York

Lure: Thunder Bug

Fish Caught: Bass, Largemouth - Bluegill (Bream, Brim) - Crappie (Black) - Crappie (White) - Musky - Perch, White - Perch, Yellow - Pickerel - Catfish, Bullhead (brown, yellow & black)

Best spinner I've ever used. I fish this thing all the time and can count on it to nail bass and pickerel all day long. Still get perch and crappie on em too.

Tim Fox – Yellowstone Nat’l Park And All Over MN & WI, Wisconsin

Lure: Trout Pocket Pac - #0 Aglia Wooly Worm

Fish Caught: Bass, Largemouth - Bass, Smallmouth - Bluegill (Bream, Brim) - Crappie (Black) - Crappie (White) - Perch, Yellow - Pike, Northern - Trout, Brook - Trout, Brown - Trout, Cutthroat - Trout, Rainbow - Walleye

This trio is extremely effective for a diverse range of fresh water fish. I’ve recently caught multi species of trout in Yellowstone NP with these in size 0 and 1. Black Fury also effective. Prefer single hook for a variety of reasons. A great Go To lure of mine for many decades…especially for shore, wader, canoe/kayak fishing rivers, streams, creeks, ponds, and small lakes. One lure I know I can always toss with confidence! (Use thin, lite, line…4-6’ish.)

Melissa Creekmur – Pond, Kentucky

Lure: Aglia & Dressed Aglia

Fish Caught: Bass, Largemouth - Bass, Rock - Bass, Smallmouth - Bass, Striped - Bass, White - Bluegill (Bream, Brim) - Carp - Catfish, Blue - Crappie (White) - Perch, Yellow

I am a 45 year old woman I have been fishing since I was 3 years old. First started with my grandfather. He had always used nothing but Mepps spinners. So I followed in his foot steps. I try new lures on occasion but have found its a waste of time for me. I will only use Mepps to catch the fish!!! They are the best!!

Ralston Heath – East Lake Toho Florida, Florida

Lure: Thunder Bug

Fish Caught: Bass, Largemouth - Bass, Smallmouth - Bluegill (Bream, Brim) - Crappie (Black) - Crappie (White)

I originally bought one from a store because I thought it was cool looking (something different). Since then I have caught a lot of fish with it. Including the ones I checked above and add in Florida Gar. After only a year, it is seriously bent, beat, chewed, and wore out. But still catching fish. I consider it my don't get skunked lure.
Since it has seen such abuse, I ordered nine more. Best lure since the Comet Mino. PLEASE, keep making them. If not, let me know when you are going to stop making them so I can stock up.

Siouxriver Phelps – Bonham Lake, Texas

Lure: Black Fury

Fish Caught: Bass, Largemouth - Bass, Smallmouth - Catfish, Channel - Crappie (Black) - Crappie (White) - Perch, Yellow

I usually don't catch that much fish, but when I use my Mepps I catch a lot of fish of different species! Best lures in the world no doubt!

Skipp Washington – Village Oaks Lake, Novi, Michigan

Lure: Thunder Bug

Fish Caught: Bass, Largemouth - Bluegill (Bream, Brim) - Crappie (White)

The Thunder Bug is extremely versatile and durable. I've caught Largemouth, Crappie, Bluegill, Pumpkinseed all on the same lure (Bumble Bee), all in the same lake, all on the same day! It casts a country mile, an advantage fishing from shore, and comes in great Match-the-Hatch colors. The weight allows count-down capabilities which puts you at the right depth for Strikes. Hydrodynamic and sonically sound. These lures do not spook fish. I only wish they made these in sizes 4 and 5 with fluorescent colors, perfect for big Bass, Walleye and Salmon. Hint, hint!!

Ethan Koski – Basswood Lake, BWCA, Minnesota

Lure: Comet Mino

Fish Caught: Bass, Largemouth - Bass, Rock - Bass, Smallmouth - Bluegill (Bream, Brim) - Crappie (Black) - Crappie (White) - Perch, Yellow - Pike, Northern - Sunfish (shellcracker) - Walleye

I've caught tons of fish on my Comet Mino, but the most excellent fish I caught was a 39in. northern pike. It was massive. It had a diameter of 15in. It took an hour to fillet it. And the same day I caught a huge 28in walleye. I'm for sure telling everyone I know about your guy's Comet Mino. I have never caught so many fish on one lure. I'm a 14 year old kid from Minnesota that doesn't have a job, but loves to go fishing and never, I mean never, had so much fun with one lure. I'm for sure going to save up some money to buy another one of these. I'll make sure everyone I know, knows about these.

Chuck Wechsler – South Carolina

Lure: Comet Mino

Fish Caught: Bass, Largemouth - Bluegill (Bream, Brim) - Crappie (Black) - Crappie (White) - Pickerel

"In my experience, the best and most versatile lure for fishing dark-water rivers and creeks in the South is the Mepps Comet Minnow. This little lure is deadly on largemouth bass, crappie, bream, warmouth, and pickerel, or what we call jackfish in the South. Truly an awesome lure. - Chuck Wechsler, editor, Sporting Classics magazine

Glenn Miller – Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania

Lure: Aglia Marabou

Fish Caught: Bass, Largemouth - Bass, Smallmouth - Crappie (Black) - Crappie (White) - Musky - Trout, Rainbow

Mepps spinner baits have always been a consistent fish catcher. I regularly use the Comet to catch bass and crappie. This past Easter I used a number 5 Aglia dressed and hooked a 40" musky. You can't go wrong with Mepps spinners.

Robert Reeder – Any Where, Indiana

Robbie Burns – Lake Fryer, Texas

Lure: Black Fury

Fish Caught: Bass, Largemouth - Bass, Smallmouth - Bluegill (Bream, Brim) - Crappie (Black) - Crappie (White) - Walleye - Barracuda

I bought the lure being a little skeptical seeing not very many reviews or product testing; even on YouTube there wasn't much. I bought the Black Fury in sizes 1,2 and 3. The number 2 & 3 are awesome! It's almost every other cast you'll get something on the Black Fury. The catch was almost 3lbs and I just recently caught an 8lb largemouth. It's an awesome lure and is a fish magnet. A must have for anybody who loves to throw a lure around.

Kevin – Culver Lake Branchville, New Jersey

Lure: XD

Fish Caught: Bass, Largemouth - Bass, Rock - Bass, Smallmouth - Bass, Striped - Bluegill (Bream, Brim) - Catfish, Channel - Crappie (Black) - Crappie (White) - Perch, White - Perch, Yellow - Pickerel - Barracuda

The dressed XD size 3 with white (silver blade) and yellow (gold blade) is a killer for the hybrids. I tend to troll with these lures and it doesn't take long. It also attracts all the other fish in the lake. If it wasn't for the pickerel I wouldn't need to order so many of these :)

Mark Bell – Rushford, New York

Lure: Little Wolf

Fish Caught: Bass, Largemouth - Bluegill (Bream, Brim) - Crappie (White) - Sunfish (shellcracker) - Trout, Brown

Great lure! Fishing small lake with 1/8 gold for less than a 1 1/2 hours and caught 4 largemouth bass, 3 brook trout, couple of crappie, and at least a half-dozen bluegills. Have also used in Creek to catch trout. Have always fished with Mepps, but, have a new favorite now.

Brian Kreutz – Madison, Wisconsin

Lure: Aglia & Dressed Aglia

Fish Caught: Bass, Largemouth - Bass, Smallmouth - Bass, Striped - Bluegill (Bream, Brim) - Crappie (White) - Perch, Yellow - Pike, Northern - Sunfish (shellcracker) - Trout, Brook - Trout, Rainbow - Walleye

I LOVE the Aglia spinners. My son and I use them as a "go to" lure for pretty much anything we fish for and ALWAYS have luck when we do. Thanks for making such an awesome product Mepps!!!!

Bob Hayett – Heritage Lake, Olathe, Kansas

Lure: Black Fury

Fish Caught: Bass, Largemouth - Bass, Smallmouth - Bass, White - Bluegill (Bream, Brim) - Catfish, Channel - Crappie (Black) - Crappie (White) - Trout, Brook - Trout, Brown - Trout, Rainbow - Walleye

I have found that Black Furies work amazingly well in two situations: In and around rocky shorelines and reeling them fast over spawning fish. I caught nearly a ten pound largemouth last year right next to a rocky shore.

Jerry – Farm Pond, Dobson, N.C., North Carolina

Lure: Black Fury

Fish Caught: Bass, Largemouth - Catfish, Blue - Catfish, Channel - Crappie (Black) - Crappie (White) - Perch, Yellow - Trout, Brown - Trout, Rainbow

I have often said that most largemouth bass anglers spend a lifetime hoping to catch at least one that weighs 5 lbs., or more. Yesterday, I was "lucky" enough to catch 4 that weighed a total of 29 lbs., 15 ounces, with the larger one being 9 lbs., 5 ounces, and the "smaller" one 5 lbs., and 15 ounces. But "the big one got away'! I hooked one which I brought to the boat, and just as I reached for what looked to be a 10 + pound fish he broke the swivel, and left with my Black Fury lure. Mepps lures are the best for crappie, and bass!!
